CHRISTMAS TIME IN WHISTLER

Whistler Blackcomb mountains have received a record breaking snowfall so far this winter, which is great for people coming to check out everything Whistler has to offer this Christmas time. The Whistler mountains look like a scene straight from a Christmas card, you cannot help but get in a festive mood.

A fantastic new time is also approaching for Whistler with the launch of the new Symphony Express, which is due to open on the 16th December. The Symphony Express is a new high speed lift which has been installed to give access to an area only usually accessible by a long hike. This area has been named the Symphony Amphitheatre due to it's natural amphitheatre terrain. It is one of the highest alpine areas available in North America, offering terrain for intermediate to expert snow lovers with over 1000 acres of deep snow, gladed finales, large open bowls and fantastic views.

The Whistler events calender is also sure to keep you active. Every Thursday throughout this season you can participate in the Kokanee Valley Race Series. This a popular event for all those who like to feel the wind in your hair racing on the slopes, whether you do this skiing or snowboarding is up to you. There are also prizes available at the final awards ceremony.

You can also enjoy the Sprite Park Rider Sessions which commence on the 17th December and continue throughout the season. These sessions are available to both skiers and snowboarders and take place on both the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains offering Halfpipe, Rail Jams and Slopestyle.

Another great Whistler event starts on the 30th December and continues throughout the season on Saturday nights beneath the Magic Chair. This is named the King of the Rail and is basically a series of Rail Jam contests for male and female contestants alike, whether skiers or snowboarders. They also have a Queen of the Rail, which is purely for the ladies.

Besides the scheduled events, Whistler Blackcomb mountain offers so many other activities for the novice or the expert. Some of the activities that you can take part in include skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, horse drawn sleigh rides, dog sleighing, snowshoeing and tubing.
